Rs 10,000 Carer's Allowance: Gov's Game Changer for Disability Support

In a recent announcement, Ashok Subron, the Minister of Social Integration, Social Security, and National Solidarity, revealed that the government intends to raise the Carer’s Allowance to Rs 10,000 during its term in office. This statement was made in a video released on December 3, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

During his address, Subron highlighted several key initiatives that the government plans to implement to support individuals with disabilities.

He mentioned that thousands of senior citizens living with disabilities would also receive their “Basic Invalid Pension.”

Additionally, all social benefits will be exempt from taxation under the new government’s policies.

In alignment with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Minister Subron reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing Article 16 of the constitution, which concerns constitutional reform.

This reform would provide constitutional protection to individuals with disabilities against all forms of discrimination.

Furthermore, he announced that the government would soon introduce a new piece of legislation titled the “Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.”

This act is aiming to enshrine the rights of persons with disabilities in law, ensuring they receive the protection and support they deserve.

Subron’s statements is reflecting a broader commitment by the new government to improve the lives of vulnerable populations, particularly those affected by disabilities.
