Minister Ameer Meea Calls for Cooperative Sector Revitalization
Aadil Ameer Meea, the Minister of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Cooperatives, has emphasized the urgent need to revitalize the cooperative sector, which he described as stagnant for several years.
Speaking at an event on the International Day of Fishing in the Red Sea on Thursday morning, November 28, Meea stated, “It is time to reinvigorate the cooperative sector.”
During his address, the minister highlighted that the current funding allocated to cooperative societies is inadequate to support their growth and development.
He stressed the importance of looking to international models, specifically those from India and France, to inspire new strategies and approaches that could help breathe new life into this vital sector.
The minister’s comments underscore a growing recognition of the need for significant investment and innovative practices to help cooperatives thrive in today’s economy.
