No Cyclone Warnings for Mauritius, Bheki Dispersed
The Mauritius Meteorological Services have released their seventh and final cyclone bulletin at 4:10 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, confirming that no cyclone warnings are currently in place for the island.
The bulletin indicates that the Moderate Tropical Storm BHEKI has significantly weakened and has transitioned into a Tropical Depression.
This change has occurred due to the storm’s movement into an unfavorable environment.
Analyses showed that cyclonic conditions are not expected to affect Mauritius.
As of 4:00 PM, Tropical Depression BHEKI was located approximately 375 kilometers east-northeast of Mauritius, at a latitude of 19.3 degrees south and longitude of 61.0 degrees east.
The depression is moving in a general west-southwesterly direction at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour.
While no cyclone warning is active, the remnants of Tropical Depression BHEKI are bringing weather changes to the island.
Residents can expect passing showers, some of which may be moderate to locally heavy and accompanied by isolated thunderstorms.
Winds are predicted to increase from the southeast, reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 100 kilometers per hour during showers.
The sea conditions are also expected to be rough, with swells ranging from 4 to 6 meters in the open waters.
The public is strongly advised against venturing out to sea or along the beaches due to the hazardous conditions.
