In a significant reshuffling within the police force, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mohunlall Madhow has been appointed as the Officer in Charge of the National Security Service (NSS). The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 19 marking Madhow’s return to an organization he has successfully led in the past.

With a wealth of experience and a reputation for professionalism, ACP Madhow is recognized for his expertise as an intelligence analyst.

His previous contributions to the NSS have earned him the trust of various administrations, showcasing his capability to handle critical operations within the unit.

In his new role, he is taking over from ACP Hurrydeo Ramdany, who has been reassigned to Moka.

The restructuring does not stop with the NSS, as significant changes are also underway within the police force.

A wave of transfers has affected personnel in the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Central Crime Investigation Department.

ACP Rajcoomar Seebah has taken command of the CTU, succeeding ACP Lilram Deal.

Approximately fifty investigators previously assigned to the CTU have been relocated to various police positions.

The CTU operates under the authority established by Article 18 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act 2002 and falls under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister’s office.

Its primary role involves collecting and analyzing intelligence related to terrorism, which is then reported to the Commissioner of Police.

This unit is critical to national security, especially concerning monitoring individuals suspected of having ties to international terrorist organizations.

Another unit undergoing significant changes is the Very Important Person Security Unit (VIPSU).

Danesh Juwaheer has stepped down from his position as head of the VIPSU and has been succeeded by Superintendent Mahendradeosingh Surnam.

These changes reflect ongoing efforts within the police force to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in preserving national security amidst evolving threats.
