Joe Lesjongard Appointed New Leader of the Opposition
Joe Lesjongard has been officially appointed as the new leader of the opposition, according to a communiqué released by the Presidency on the afternoon of Friday, November 15. Lesjongard is taking over the position from Arvin Boolell, who resigned earlier this week following the victory of the Alliance du Changement in the recent legislative elections.
Lesjongard, a member of the opposition who was designated as a “Best Loser” after the general elections, will now lead the opposition party.
Other candidates who were also recognized as Best Losers include Henriette Manan and Jacques Edouard from the Alliance Libération (Rodrigues), as well as Adrien Duval from the Alliance Lepep.
This leadership change came at a pivotal time for the opposition, as they look to regroup and strategize following the electoral defeat.
