DPP Calls for Reforms to Ensure Full Independence
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is urging for legal reforms to secure the complete independence of its institution. In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, November 14, Me Rashid Ahmine, the Director of Public Prosecutions, highlighted that his office has faced acts of repression, particularly through budget cuts.
Significantly, the DPP’s office acknowledged the new government’s commitment to enhancing the powers and autonomy of the institution.
Me Rashid Ahmine emphasized the urgency of this initiative and is calling on the government to prioritize the implementation of six new measures aimed at strengthening the DPP’s independence.
Among these measures is the repeal of the Financial Crimes Commission Act.
