Gavin Glover Appointed Next Attorney General

In a significant announcement made at a press conference on Thursday, November 14, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam revealed that attorney Gavin Glover will be appointed as the next Attorney General of the Alliance of Change government. The Prime Minister emphasized that the position would be filled by someone with extensive legal knowledge and at least 15 years of experience in the bar, and according to Ramgoolam, Glover meets all of these qualifications.

However, Glover’s appointment will be delayed as he is currently engaged in legal commitments.

He is set to represent Bernard Maigrot, who is appealing a 15-year prison sentence for the murder of fashion designer Vanessa Lagesse.

Glover will not be available to assume his new role until after November 29.

In the interim period, Prime Minister Ramgoolam announced that an acting Attorney General would be appointed.

This appointment marks a strategic decision by the Alliance of Change, aiming to bring in a legal professional with a wealth of experience to lead the Attorney General’s office.
