Post-Election Resignations Surge Within Public Institutions
In a notable wave of resignations from public institutions following the recent elections, several key figures have stepped down from their positions. On Wednesday, November 13, Dick Ng Sui Wa announced his resignation as Chairman of the Information Technology and Communication Authority (ICTA).
His departure comes alongside that of various other officials in the wake of the Alliance du Changement’s victory in the general elections.
Dick Ng Sui Wa, a lawyer by profession and associated with the Mouvement Socialiste Militant (MSM), had held the position of ICTA chairman since February 2020.
His resignation marks a significant shift within the authority, reflecting a broader trend of turnover in leadership roles within governmental agencies.
In addition to Ng Sui Wa, Gérard Louis also resigned today from his role as president of the Mauritius Society of Authors (MASA), a position he had held since his appointment by the Council of Ministers during the MSM administration in 2020.
A musician and producer, Louis is a former member of the well-known group Cassiya and was honored with the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (OSK) just months after taking on the MASA leadership.
Julien Georges, director of the Mauritius Society for Animal Welfare (MSAW), is another figure reportedly stepping down, though attempts to reach him for confirmation have been unsuccessful.
These resignations underscore the shifting political landscape in the wake of the recent elections, as new leadership takes shape across various public institutions.
