Health Ministry Offices’ Transfer to Ébène… Amid Govt Transition
A statement released yesterday November 12 by the Government Information Service has confirmed the gradual relocation of the Ministry of Health’s offices from the Emmanuel Anquetil building in Port-Louis to new premises at NextSky in Ébène’s Cybercity.
However, this announcement, made just one day after the election results were declared, raises several questions, particularly as the transfer, initiated by the previous administration, has been underway for the past two weeks.
This timing is particularly notable as the new government is poised to take office.
The announcement was accompanied by a hotline number intended for those seeking further information.
However, it appeared that the communication surrounding this transfer was poorly organized.
When contacted, the hotline, which was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist citizens, revealed that it lacked any specific details about the relocation.
“We are unable to respond because we have not received any information on this matter.
We’ve tried reaching out to the ministry for more information, but no one is answering,” said a confused hotline agent.
l’Express‘ sources indicated that the transition has been in progress for approximately two weeks; however, as of now, the new offices at NextSky are not fully operational.
Significant logistical issues persisted, including a lack of functional internet access and a telephone line, hampering the staff’s ability to work efficiently.
Some employees have suggested that the decision to move was driven by inadequate space and poor ventilation in the Emmanuel Anquetil building.
Nevertheless, some ministry staff continued to operate from the Port-Louis location.
Many observers find the timing of this decision perplexing, noting that it seems to have been finalized before the elections but only announced after the results were known, just as the outgoing government is set to depart.
Additionally, questions have been raised regarding the previous administration’s choice of the new location in Ébène, which could lead to concerns about the suitability of the site.
l’Express’ efforts to reach the Ministry of Health for clarification have so far been unsuccessful, and we will continue to pursue this story for further updates.
