Court Ruling: Charges Dismissed for Former MT CEO
Sherry Singh, the former CEO of Mauritius Telecom, made a statement to the press following a court appearance on Monday, November 4, wherein the temporary charge of “terrorism” against him and four others was dismissed. The judge, Prashant Bissoon, ruled that the explanation provided by investigators for the terrorism charge was not convincing.
However, he did uphold the charge of “using a fake profile.”
In his remarks to the media, Singh expressed gratitude to Mr. Moustass, stating, “I thank Mr. Moustass for clarifying the situation to the public.
” He referred to the revelations in the “Moustass Leaks” as containing “incredible information.”
Singh did not hold back in his criticism of the outgoing Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth. “I have no doubt that Pravind Jugnauth will lose the next election,” he declared.
He also spoke critically about the new proposals announced by the Prime Minister during an Alliance Lepep meeting in Phoenix, suggesting that the promise of a 14th month’s salary is impractical and indicative of “panic.”
He warned that such measures would significantly impact small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Additionally, Singh questioned why the Prime Minister had not reduced fuel prices, reflecting concerns about the government’s economic policies.
