Navin Ramgoolam, leader of the Alliance du Changement, has swiftly responded to recent allegations regarding his financial dealings abroad. During a press conference at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ébène on October 29, Ramgoolam addressed claims made by outgoing Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, suggesting that Ramgoolam holds significant bank accounts in foreign countries.

“I have heard these falsehoods before. He (Pravind Jugnauth) is trying to insinuate that I have ‘large accounts’ in foreign locations.

My question to him is: does he have accounts in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Dubai? He should answer that!” Ramgoolam declared, firmly rejecting the accusations.

He emphasized, “I do not possess any accounts, except for the time I worked as a doctor in England.”

Ramgoolam’s remarks came as a direct response to an ultimatum issued by Jugnauth during a rally for his political coalition, Alliance Lepep, on the previous day in Moka.

During that event, Jugnauth demanded transparency from Ramgoolam, stating, “Ramgoolam must clarify whether he and his family have bank accounts abroad.

If so, he should disclose in how many countries they exist and the number of accounts he has in various banks.

I am not making allegations; I am simply asking a straightforward question and I expect him to respond.”

In a veiled threat, Jugnauth warned Ramgoolam that if he failed to provide answers, he would reveal Ramgoolam’s alleged accounts himself on November 3.
