DPP Launches Judicial Inquiry into the Death of Jacquelin Juliette
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has announced the initiation of a judicial inquiry into the death of Jacquelin Juliette. This decision was communicated on Friday, October 25.
According to the DPP, the investigation had not made significant progress, prompting this new action after receiving case files from both the police and the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
To uphold public confidence in the judicial system, the DPP deemed it necessary to launch this inquiry.
The first hearing is scheduled to take place at the Pamplemousses Court on Monday, October 28, starting at 1:30 PM.
The death of Juliette, a resident of Cité St. Clair, has gained renewed attention following the circulation of audio recordings on social media that allege police brutality.
