Typical 6-member Family likely to Receive Rs 70K Monthly
A typical family, consisting of a couple, three children, and a grandmother, will receive a total income of Rs 70,000 starting in January 2025. This announcement was made by Xavier-Luc Duval during a speech at the Alliance Lepep congress held at La Source in Quatre-Bornes.
The leader of the PMSD discussed the various social assistance measures promised by the government.
Duval elaborated on the income breakdown, stating that if both spouses earn a salary of Rs 20,000 each, that would provide the family with Rs 40,000.
In addition, each of their three children, who are under 18 years old, will receive Rs 5,000, amounting to an extra Rs 15,000.
The grandmother will also benefit from a pension of Rs 15,000 starting in January 2025.
In total, this family will have an income of Rs 70,000.
“By December 2025, this amount will double to Rs 140,000!” Duval affirmed.
He also pointed out that ten years ago, under the previous government, this same family was earning only Rs 23,600.
According to Duval, these government measures are intended to address the issues of the cost of living and poverty.
Meanwhile, Pravind Jugnauth, leader of the Alliance Lepep, announced in his speech that, if they succeed in the upcoming legislative elections on November 10, Xavier-Luc Duval will be appointed Deputy Prime Minister in the next government.
