Investigation Commission Established for “Moustass Leaks” Incident
The Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, convened on Friday – October 25 and approved the establishment of a commission of inquiry to investigate the “Moustass Leaks” incident. This case revolves around the unauthorized dissemination of private telephone conversations on social media platforms in Mauritius.
The newly formed commission will be chaired by a former Supreme Court judge and will include two foreign experts who will serve as assessors.
According to the summary of decisions released by the Cabinet, “The Cabinet has agreed to arrangements being made, in accordance with the provisions of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, for the setting up of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate and report on a matter of public interest, namely the alleged misuse of telecommunications infrastructure and the recent publication and/or broadcast of purported telephone conversations on social media and other platforms.”
