Police Sergeant Transferred for Meeting Alliance du Changement Candidates
In a surprising turn of events, a police sergeant has reported that he was transferred from his position after engaging with candidates from the Alliance du Changement during a door-to-door campaign. This incident took place in Camp-Thorel within the constituency of Moka/Quartier-Militaire.
The sergeant, who has dedicated 32 years to his service, documented his experience as a precautionary measure at the Quartier-Militaire police station on Wednesday, October 23.
He recounted that on October 14, he encountered candidates from the Alliance du Changement while they were canvassing in his neighborhood.
However, just 20 minutes after this meeting, he received a call from the police station at SAJ Hospital, which informed him that he was being transferred to the Special Mobile Force (SMF).
In a subsequent development, the sergeant learned that he was then reassigned to the airport.
During an interview with RadioPlus on Thursday, October 24, the sergeant expressed his belief that these transfers were punitive actions taken against him. “I feel like a victim of a retaliatory transfer,” he stated.
As of now, the police communication unit has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this matter.
The situation is raising questions about the implications of police interactions with political candidates and the potential consequences for officers engaging in civic activities.
