U.S. Ambassador to Mauritius Addresses Anonymous Letter Regarding “Missier Moustass”
Henry V. Jardine, the U.S. Ambassador to Mauritius, has issued a statement clarifying recent rumors concerning an anonymous letter purportedly sent to him about the identity of “Missier Moustass.” In his statement released on Wednesday, October 23, he emphasized that neither he nor the United States Embassy has received such a letter.
“I would like to clarify the recent information regarding an anonymous letter that has been mentioned in local media.
I can confirm that neither I nor the U.S. Embassy has received such a letter. Any claims that this letter was directly sent to the U.S. Embassy are false,” Jardine said.
The ambassador further underscored the United States’ commitment to transparency, open communication, and the principle of non-interference in the internal political affairs of countries with which the U.S. maintains diplomatic relations.
Reports in the local press suggested that a whistleblower, claiming to be a former associate of “Missier Moustass,” sent an anonymous letter to the ambassador, revealing the identity of the individual behind the pseudonym.
This person is said to be involved in circulating compromising phone recordings on social media.
Jardine’s remarks aimed to dispel any misconceptions regarding the authenticity and receipt of the letter, reaffirming the U.S. government’s stance on engaging with Mauritius without meddling in its domestic issues.
