Police Commissioner Responds to “Moustass Leaks”
On Wednesday morning, October 23, Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip addressed the media regarding videos released by the social media account “Missier Moustass.” During the press conference, he stated that he does not interfere in police investigations and maintains a strict stance against officers who fail to fulfill their responsibilities.
“I do not tolerate nor have I interfered in any inquiry,” PC asserted, while questioning the timing of the video releases.
“Why did it have to be released just before the elections? It seems like an attempt to manipulate public opinion,” he remarked, delivering a stern warning to the individual behind the “Missier Moustass” profile.
Dip further alleged that there was “manipulation” and “use of artificial intelligence” involved in this incident, stating, “As we have confirmed, there is manipulation and the use of AI.”
He urged the public not to fall into this trap.
Also present at the conference was Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police, who provided insights into the autopsy of Jacquelin Steeve Juliette.
This followed the emergence of two audio recordings suggesting a potential cover-up surrounding the death of Juliette, a resident of Résidence Ste Claire in Goodlands.
Dr. Gungadin briefly noted that three forensic pathologists were present during the autopsy of Jacquelin Steeve Juliette in 2023.
“The cause of death has been established, and explanations have already been provided to the family,” he stated. He also mentioned, “We will provide more details during the judicial inquiry.”
In addition, Dr. Kaleem Ahmed Usman, director of the Computer Emergency Response Team of Mauritius (CERT-MU), explained the criteria that social media platforms use to delete content.
