13,000 Students Begin PSAC Exams Amidst Upcoming General Elections
This morning, October 22, around 13,000 students are set to participate in the Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC) examinations. The timing of these exams coincides with the submission of candidacies for the upcoming general elections scheduled for November 10.
Of the students taking the PSAC exams, an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 are private candidates, predominantly in Grade 5.
Many of these students are motivated to catch up on learning lost during the COVID-19 pandemic and are preparing to achieve their PSAC.
Today, candidates will tackle the French exam, while private candidates will also take a science examination starting at noon.
Vishal Baujeet, president of the Government Teachers’ Union (GTU), emphasized that private students, particularly those in Grade 5, will be assessed across all subjects from Grade 6.
“They will be examined in all subjects, covering the entire syllabus. These exams are designed to evaluate the overall level of the student,” he stated.
The PSAC exam schedule is as follows:
- Today, October 22: French exams for all students and science for private candidates starting at noon.
- October 23: English exams for all students.
- October 24: Morning sessions for Asian languages and Kreol Morisien, followed by history and geography for private candidates in the afternoon.
- October 25: Mathematics exam.
- Results are expected to be released between December 10 and December 12.
