Telephone Tapping Confirmed in Mauritius, Reports “Missie Moustass”
Mauritius is currently embroiled in a serious controversy involving telephone surveillance, as exposed by the Facebook page “Missie Moustass.” Various prominent figures, including journalists such as Nawaz Noorbux, and politicians like Navin Ramgoolam, Paul Bérenger, Shakeel Mohamed, and Rajesh Bhagwan, have been targteted.
Additionally, current and former officials close to power, including Ken Arian, have also been affected.
Many individuals mentioned in the leaked conversations have already confirmed that they participated in the phone exchanges that were published on Friday afternoon, October 18, on the “Missie Moustass” Facebook page.
In response to these revelations, the police issued a statement on Saturday, October 19, informing the public that telephone surveillance is illegal in Mauritius.
They announced the initiation of an investigation following several complaints lodged regarding the matter.
