Heartfelt Call for Democracy, Hope & Justice
In a surprising turn of events, Adeela Rawat, daughter of the former BAI Group Chairman Dawood Rawat, made headlines by addressing an assembly of the Alliance du Changement in La Gaulette, located in electoral constituency No. 14 (Savanne-Rivière-Noire) on Thursday evening, October 17. Her unexpected appearance at the meeting served as a platform for her to express her support for the coalition.
During her speech, Adeela Rawat openly condemned the current government, highlighting the hardships many individuals have faced over the past several years.
“We have done nothing wrong. Many people have suffered because of this government,” she asserted.
“Why do we want this team to win, it’s because we do not live in a democracy. It’s an atmosphere of fear that has permeated life in Mauritius over the last decade” she stated ardently.
Additionally, Rawat addressed the allegations against the BAI Group, specifically denying claims that the company operated a Ponzi scheme.
“There has never been a Ponzi scheme,” she confirmed, emphasizing that no complaints regarding fraud of that nature had ever been filed with the police against the company throughout its 45-year history.
Adeela Rawat’s remarks resonated with many at the meeting as she voiced the sentiments of those feeling increasingly disenfranchised in Mauritius.
Her bold statements underscore a growing call for change within the country’s political landscape.
