The Mauritius Post has issued a warning regarding a new wave of SMS scams that are targeting residents. Many Mauritians have recently received messages claiming that their packages cannot be delivered and urging them to click on a link to provide personal information or make payments.

Jayraj Itoo, the newly appointed Officer-in-Charge at Mauritius Post, has stated that these messages are fraudulent.

He strongly advised recipients not to click on any links and to report such messages to the police.

“Under no circumstances should you share your personal information,” he emphasized.

The Mauritius Post clarified that it only uses SMS to notify customers about the availability of their packages at post office locations.

Itoo also highlighted that scammers are employing similar tactics through email.

Unfortunately, several individuals have already fallen victim to these scams.

In light of this situation, the Mauritius Post is urging the public to remain vigilant.

It is notable that Jayraj Itoo has recently taken on the role of Officer-in-Charge following the departure of Vijaye Ramchurn, the former CEO of Mauritius Post Ltd.

Ramchurn is now a candidate for the upcoming elections under the Alliance Lepep banner for constituency No. 9.
