Bruneau Laurette’s Political Party Official Launch
On Tuesday, October 15, Bruneau Laurette officially launched his political party, the Mouvman Bruneau Laurette, and laid out an ambitious agenda aimed at addressing the needs of marginalized communities in the upcoming general elections. Laurette, who is running as a candidate in Constituency No. 1, announced plans to field sixty candidates across all constituencies.
During a press conference held on October 15, 2024, Laurette was joined by several allies, including Georges Ah-Yan and Stephan Buckland, to unveil his proposals.
While some observers criticized these initiatives as unrealistic, Laurette and his team are resolute in their commitment to their vision.
The launch event was marked by a strong visual presence, with supporters of all ages sporting black polo shirts emblazoned with a logo of a raised hand over a flame against an orange backdrop.
In his address, Laurette emphasized his party’s dedication to advocating for minority rights.
“Why should others be allowed to voice their grievances when something goes wrong, but not minorities?” he said passionately.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring that “what is said to the general populace must not be brought down to the community level.”
The party’s slogan, “Pou enn Moris egal” (For an Equal Mauritius), encapsulates Laurette’s commitment to equality and inclusivity.

Women Leading the Charge
Bruneau Laurette has placed significant emphasis on female representation within his party. Notable names such as Wendy, Dominique, Chloé, Karen, Jane, and Aurélie emerged as key figures in this new political venture.
Dressed in party colors, these women symbolize a robust and active participation in the electoral process, ready to engage actively in political discourse.
Stephan Buckland: Partnering for Change
Stephan Buckland, who has transitioned from an athlete to a political activist, expressed his support for Laurette.
Having previously collaborated with the late Éric Guimbeau, he is now committed to running alongside Laurette in Constituency No. 1.
“I have been fighting alongside Bruneau since 2019. I share his vision,” he stated, highlighting his familiarity with the region as his wife hails from Pointe-aux-Sables.
Despite the competitive landscape of Constituency No. 1, Buckland remains undeterred, describing himself as a “natural competitor” and encouraging youth to recognize their role in shaping the future of the country.
Acknowledgment of Support
Bruneau Laurette is open about receiving logistical support from businessman Jean Michel Lee Shim, addressing any concerns by stating, “What harm is there in that? Why should I refuse?
It’s essential for the general population and other minorities to be more recognized within the state’s hierarchy.”
He insists that a historical imbalance needs rectification and that he will avoid partnerships with just anyone.
As the party prepares for the elections, Laurette has confirmed his candidacy in Constituency No. 1 alongside Buckland, with further candidates to be announced on Nomination Day.
The Mouvman Bruneau Laurette is set to make a significant impact in the political landscape of Mauritius.
