Alleged Rape Incident in Triolet: Police Investigate Facebook Acquaintance

In Triolet, a 19-year-old woman has accused a man she met on Facebook of committing rape. Local authorities are currently searching for a suspect who resides in Cité Mère Thérèsa. The young woman, who is now hospitalized, is claiming that the assault took place on the evening of Friday, October 11.

According to a complaint filed on Sunday, the young woman reported that she became acquainted with the suspect in January 2024 through Facebook.

Over time, they developed a friendship. On the evening in question, she alleges that the man called her and arranged to meet.

He picked her up from her home in an eastern village and took her to his place.

Upon their arrival, they reportedly consumed beer together, after which the suspect offered the woman a cigarette laced with cannabis.

Under the influence of the drug, she alleged that he proposed engaging in sexual relations, to which she responded with a firm refusal.

The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly threatened her and became violent, according to the victim’s account.

She claimed she was then forced into sexual acts before being raped in the suspect’s bedroom.

After the incident, the suspect reportedly instructed her to clean herself up before driving her to Grand-Baie for a meal.

It was during this outing that she managed to signal to a passing bystander for help.

The police responded promptly and attended to the alleged victim.

However, the suspect had already left the scene and remains at large, with law enforcement actively searching for him.

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman from the East has come forward with allegations against a 26-year-old mechanic, accusing him of rape.

She reported that he drove her to his home on Monday, October 7, where she stayed for two nights.

During this time, she claimed that she was raped on two separate occasions.

The woman has also been admitted to the hospital for treatment and stated that she is prepared to present the clothes she was wearing at the time of the incidents to the police.
