1,800+ Foreigners to Vote in Mauritius on November 10

Mauritius, a nation with a rich electoral history, is set to witness the participation of 1,870 foreign voters, primarily from Commonwealth countries, in the upcoming elections scheduled for November 10. According to the electoral register published on August 16, the total number of registered voters in the country stands at 1,002,857.
As per Article 42 of the Constitution, Commonwealth citizens residing in Mauritius for a minimum of two years are eligible to register with the electoral commission.
Among the foreign voters, the majority are of Indian origin, with 1,033 individuals on the list. Following them are 230 voters from Bangladesh and 217 from South Africa.
Additionally, there is one voter from Brunei Darussalam, a state located on the island of Borneo.
Further statistics from the electoral commission reveal that the largest demographic of voters falls within the age group of 40 to 59, comprising 352,970 individuals.
Meanwhile, there are 264,812 voters aged between 60 and 99.
The gender ratio across constituencies remains relatively balanced, although female voters account for 51.3% of the total registered electorate.
