Severe Swell Warning Reaching 4 Meters for Mauritius & Rodrigues
The Vacoas Meteorological Station has issued a severe swell warning for Mauritius and Rodrigues, effective from this Saturday, October 12, at 10 PM until Monday, October 14, at 10 AM.
Powerful swells are approaching the Mascarenes from the south, which will significantly impact sea conditions around both islands.
The open sea is expected to become extremely rough, with wave heights reaching approximately 4 meters starting tonight.
These waves will also affect the lagoons and may crash onto low-lying coastal areas, particularly those on the west, south, and southeast coasts.
Authorities strongly advise fishermen, boaters, and the general public to refrain from going out to sea or venturing onto the affected beaches, especially during high tide.
In response to these forecasts, law enforcement, including the Special Mobile Force, the National Coast Guard, and local firefighting services, are on high alert to ensure public safety.
