Incident off Tamarin Coast: #Savetheblu Responds to Shark Attack Reports
The ocean conservation organization #Savetheblu has issued a statement regarding the recent incident off the coast of Tamarin, clarifying that reports of a shark attack have been misrepresented. Contrary to initial claims, the event occurred far outside the lagoon during an excursion designed for swimming with sperm whales.
A group of Chinese tourists was participating in this marine adventure when they unexpectedly encountered a longfin mako shark, also known as the oceanic shark.
This species, typically found in deep waters, is often regarded as dangerous.
During the encounter, one of the tourists attempted to grab the shark by its tail, triggering a defensive response from the animal, which resulted in a bite to the individual’s face.
As panic ensued, another member of the group was reportedly injured by the propeller of a nearby boat.
Both victims were subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment.
Savetheblu emphasized that the incident did not occur within the lagoon, as previously reported, and confirmed that only one shark was involved.
The organization also clarified that the tourists were not snorkeling, as stated in some articles, but were engaged in swimming with the sperm whales.
Drawing from reliable sources, #Savetheblu reassured the public that the shark did not attack the swimmers unprovoked.
Instead, the animal reacted defensively to an attempted capture by one of the tourists.
