A new postal package center has officially opened within the Courts Mammouth showroom in Solférino. The inauguration was marked by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in the presence of several notable figures, including Chief Government Whip Rameswar Doolub, Private Parliamentary Secretary Gilbert Bablee, and key representatives from Mauritius Post Limited (MPL), such as President Rana Swambert and CEO Vijay Ramchurn.

During the event, Minister of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, Deepak Balgobin, took the opportunity to highlight MPL’s innovative efforts aimed at enhancing the efficiency of postal package deliveries and improving public satisfaction.

He explained that the establishment of this fourth postal package center, located within the Courts showroom, is part of a broader initiative to upgrade postal services following the recent launch of a similar facility at Phoenix Mall.

The minister also announced plans for additional openings at locations such as Bel-Air and Riche-Terre Courts Mammouth.

The new center will offer a comprehensive range of postal services, excluding pension payment services, ensuring accessibility for all.

Elevators will be available for elderly individuals, enhancing convenience.

Minister Balgobin emphasized that the center represents a significant step toward transforming the delivery of packages and e-commerce items.

A key feature of the center will be the dedicated commercial area designed for the efficient handling of both international and domestic package deliveries.

The new facility will allow the public to conveniently collect items, accommodating the schedules of modern consumers by offering access after traditional office hours.

Minister Balgobin pointed out that these extended hours of operation demonstrate MPL’s commitment to meeting the needs of Mauritian citizens, providing greater flexibility for package collection.

He further discussed the advantages of this modern postal concept, noting that it would alleviate pressure on nearby post offices by centralizing e-commerce services.

“This will help to decongest facilities and improve service quality, while also providing the public with ample parking options,” he added.
