Mauritius Stock Exchange: Listed Entities’ Results Boost Market Performance
The main index of the Mauritius Stock Exchange, the SEMDEX, reached a new record high at the close of trading on Wednesday September 25, finishing at 2,326.70 points. This surpasses the previous record of 2,308.39 points set on March 19, 2018.
The recent surge in the SEMDEX can largely be attributed to the positive earnings results released by several listed companies in recent days.
Additionally, the two other indices on the official market, the SEMTRI and SEMTRI-ASI, also achieved new milestones, closing at 10,299.13 points and 9,417.25 points, respectively.
Among the top gainers on the official market yesterday were MUA Ltd, which saw an increase of 3.57%, followed closely by UBP at 3.16%, Newgold ETF at 3.08%, MCB Group at 3.00%, and Alteo at 2.94%.
In terms of trading volume, NMH experienced the highest activity with 933,137 shares traded, followed by MDIT and SBMH. By the afternoon of the trading session, the market capitalization on the official market stood at Rs 368.9 billion, representing nearly 50% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
