Doctor Summoned Again: Death of Magistrate Sparks Investigation
In an ongoing investigation into the tragic death of Magistrate Varsha Biefun Doorga, the Medical Council has once again summoned Dr. Nishan Moheeputh, a cosmetic surgeon, to provide further explanations regarding his statements made on August 7th.
This latest summons followed the passing of Doorga, who died on July 23rd due to septicemia resulting from an intestinal perforation.
Attorney Vikash Teeluckdharry, representing Dr. Moheeputh, has requested a postponement of the hearing.
He argued that while the Medical Council has obtained the autopsy report of the deceased, the defense should also have access to a copy in order to offer more accurate information in response to the allegations.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 27th.
To recall the circumstances surrounding her death, Magistrate Varsha Biefun Doorga experienced a severe deterioration in her health after undergoing surgery at a private clinic, which led to septicemia.
She passed away just four days later, succumbing to complications from an intestinal perforation.
The late magistrate was a devoted mother to her two sons, aged 11 and 13, whom she had been raising with the support of her mother since the death of her husband.
