Major Cannabis Seizure at Sea: Suspects Escape
In a significant operation conducted this afternoon, the Crime Intelligence Unit, led by Assistant Superintendent Mooniaruth, along with the Maritime Intelligence Cell under Inspector Chakowry, seized 200 kilograms of cannabis valued at Rs 300 million off the western coast of Mauritius.
During the operation, suspected drug traffickers discarded bags of cannabis into the ocean before fleeing the scene.
Police are actively searching for these suspects, and operations are ongoing as authorities work to apprehend them.
This major seizure was carried out in collaboration with the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section of the Mauritius Revenue Authority.
Authorities have indicated that arrests are expected soon. Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip is closely monitoring the investigation.
