$6 M Donation for Mosques: Meeah Claims Funds Disbursed, Soodhun Denies

In a recent announcement, Cehl Meeah, the former MP for the Port-Louis East/Port-Louis Maritime constituency and leader of the Front Solidarité Mauricien, revealed that Saudi Arabia has already disbursed a donation of $6 million intended for the construction and improvement of mosques in Mauritius.

Meeah claiming that he had previously discussed this donation with Showkutally Soodhun, the ambassador-at-large for Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

Meeah made this statement during a press conference held this morning, September 11, which was led by Mawlana Shamim Khodadin.

In response, Showkutally Soodhun quickly refuted Meeah’s claims, accusing him of spreading falsehoods.

Soodhun stated that he is considering taking legal action and reporting the matter to the police.
