Nothern Coastal Residents’ Concerns Over Deteriorating Road Conditions
Residents of several neighborhoods along northen coast are expressing their frustration with the poor condition of the roads, which are becoming increasingly difficult to navigate. This issue affects not only the smaller streets serving various communities but also major routes like Chemin 20 Pieds and the coastal road, both of which are heavily trafficked by thousands of vehicles each day.
The segment of road running from Grand-Baie to Cap-Malheureux along Chemin 20 Pieds is particularly problematic.
It is not only in a deplorable state but is also quite narrow, lacking essential features such as sidewalks and adequate lighting.
This situation is posing a significant risk to pedestrians, especially at night when visibility is poor.
Residents have made their concerns known, sending numerous emails to the Road Development Authority requesting the necessary repairs.
However, as of now, no action has been taken, and the road conditions continue to deteriorate.
The complaints echo throughout various localities, including Grand-Baie, Pereybère, Bain-Boeuf, Cap-Malheureux, and Calodyne.
In these areas, residents frequently encounter roads that are in such disrepair that they resemble obstacle courses.
Many residents have raised their concerns multiple times over the years, yet little progress has been made, and the situation worsens particularly during the rainy season when the roads are most affected by continuous degradation.
Residents are calling for immediate action from the authorities to address this pressing issue that impacts their daily lives and safety.
Without timely intervention, the conditions of these roads will only continue to decline, exacerbating the challenges faced by those who live and travel in the North.
