The Union of Bus Industry Workers (UBIW) convened its executive committee this afternoon, September 3, amidst rising anxiety over salary adjustments in the public transport sector.

Secretary-General Alain Kistnen expressed grave concerns based on information gathered from employee representatives across five transport companies.

Kistnen revealed that these representatives reported that company managements are claiming an inability to implement the necessary salary adjustments without government support.

This ongoing confusion, he stressed, cannot continue. Kistnen urged the government to fulfill its commitments to the approximately 3,000 workers in the transport sector.

The UBIW represents employees from various organizations, including the National Transport Corporation (CNT), United Bus Service (UBS), Rose Hill Transport, Triolet Bus Service, Mauritian Bus Transport, and individual bus operators.
