Demolition of Structures at Ruisseau du Pouce
The merchant structures located at Ruisseau du Pouce, near the Jardin de la Compagnie in Port-Louis, are scheduled for demolition this evening.
Since Saturday, August 31, seventeen of the approximately sixty street vendors from Ruisseau du Pouce have been relocated to the Gare du Nord.
This demolition is the result of a decision made following a report by the Fact-Finding Committee, which was chaired by former judge Bhushan Domah and released to the public in 2008.
The decision was prompted by deadly floods that occurred in March of the same year.
The report also recommended the demolition of the parking facilities used by Air Mauritius and Rogers, which are also situated along Ruisseau du Pouce, as well as the KFC located on another stream.
