Suspected Mpox Case Turns Out Negative
In a recent development, the Ministry of Health in Mauritius has confirmed that a PCR test conducted on a 20-year-old woman returned negative results for Mpox.
Though she was initially suspected of having the virus, it was ultimately determined that she is suffering from chickenpox instead.
The woman was hospitalized at Jeetoo Hospital and placed in isolation after her first PCR test yielded inconclusive results.
Following the new diagnosis of chickenpox, she has since been released from the hospital.
While no cases of Mpox have been reported in Mauritius to date, health authorities are exercising heightened vigilance.
They have strengthened health protocols to prevent any possible introduction of the virus into the community.
