Samy Chellum: Curepipe’s New Mayor Expresses Gratitude for PM’s Trust

In a press conference following his election, Samy Chellum, the newly appointed mayor of Curepipe, expressed his deep gratitude for the trust placed in him by Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

Chellum confirmed that he accepted the responsibility with enthusiasm and is eager to continue the work initiated by his team of advisors since 2015.

“I am honored by the confidence shown in me by the Prime Minister, and I am committed to building on our past efforts,” Chellum stated, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with his team as they strive to maintain their progress.

During his remarks, Chellum acknowledged the numerous recent criticisms directed at Curepipe.

He emphasized his determination to ensure that residents enjoy the best living conditions possible.

“My goal is to listen to the concerns of the citizens and to work diligently to address them,” he noted.

Additionally, Clency Pompeia, Chellum’s deputy, expressed his appreciation for the trust extended to him by the Prime Minister and the parliament members.

Pompeia underscored the team’s commitment to delivering tangible results in the future, stating, “We understand that our responsibilities come with expectations, and we are ready to meet them.”
