Free Internet for Young People Starting September 1st, 2024

The details regarding free mobile internet access for young people aged 18 to 25 have been unveiled as part of the Budget for 2024-2025.

According to Defi Media sources, this service will be launched on Sunday, September 1, 2024. An official inauguration will be held in the presence of Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Eligible young individuals will need to register with the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA).

It is important for applicants to possess a SIM card registered in their own name.

After completing the registration process with the MRA, the authority will pass the information to the telecommunications operators.

The operators will then verify the details before activating the free mobile internet connection for the registered phone numbers.

This service will be accessible through the networks of the three major telecommunications providers: my.t mobile operated by Mauritius Telecom, Emtel, and Chili from MTML.
