Côte d’Or: Construction of Cultural Association Halls Set to Begin Soon
In a significant development for local communities, Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth announced the imminent construction of the headquarters for three cultural associations in Côte d’Or. The sites will host the Hindu Speaking Union, the Urdu Speaking Union, and the Mauritius Tamil Cultural Centre Trust, with each occupying approximately one arpent of land.
Each building will span around 1,000 square meters and will feature a range of facilities, including a multipurpose hall, administrative offices, a library, a kitchen, classrooms, and meeting rooms, among other amenities.
The Prime Minister made these announcements during a ceremony where leases were handed over to the three cultural associations on-site in Côte d’Or.
“Words given are sacred words. This initiative is a first in our country’s history. We are not just providing land; we are also constructing a building.
These will be real jewels erected here,” asserted Prime Minister Jugnauth.
He expressed confidence that construction would start soon, allowing the associations to receive their keys without delay.
During his speech at what he termed an “historic” event, Prime Minister Jugnauth emphasized his government’s ongoing commitment to promoting the languages, cultures, values, and traditions of every citizen in the Republic of Mauritius.
