Narendranath Gopee: PRB Has Legitimate Obligation for Immediate Salary Adjustments

The Public Service Union (PRB) is legally obligated to initiate a deserved timely salary realignment, followed by a comprehensive salary review, according to Narendranath Gopee, a representative from the Federation of Civil Service and Other Unions.

Gopee made these statements during a midday protest on Tuesday, August 20, held in front of St. Louis Cathedral.

The demonstration was catalyzed by the recent announcement of a mere 5 percent salary increase for public sector employees.

Gopee described the increase as “an insult to public servants.”

The protest gained additional support from opposition leader Arvin Boolell, who was present at the rally.

Boolell emphasized the need for the government to ensure that all employees are treated equally, calling for fair and adequate compensation for public sector workers.

The rally underscored growing discontent among public servants regarding their pay and working conditions.
