Flacq: SAJ Hospital Inauguration, Phase 1 Costing Rs 2.6 Billion
The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Jugnauth, inaugurated the first phase of the SAJ Hospital in Flacq yesterday afternoon, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services.
“Our priority is to ensure that we can provide better health services,” he stated during the formal ceremony, which was attended by ministers, members of parliament, diplomatic officials, healthcare personnel, and local residents.
In his address, Prime Minister Jugnauth revealed that the government has secured a total loan of Rs 4.3 billion from international financial institutions to fund the first two phases of the hospital’s construction project.
He underscored the need for the new facility, noting that the previous hospital in the area, known as Bruno Cheong Hospital, was built in 1922.
“The residents of this region deserve to have access to improved health services provided by well-trained staff,” he asserted.
