Financial Services Minister Leads Delegation to India for Collaboration Talks
Soomilduth Bholah, the Minister of Financial Services in Mauritius, is currently leading a delegation on a visit to India. According to an online article, Minister Bholah has indicated that the Mauritius International Financial Centre (IFC) is considering establishing an office in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
During their trip to the Indian subcontinent, the Mauritian delegation is scheduled to meet with representatives from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
The objective of these discussions is to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at simplifying tax regulations and compliance standards for entities based in GIFT City that operate in Mauritius.
A major goal of this collaboration is to attract capital from India to Africa.
Mauritius is also looking to entice Indian businesses in sectors such as real estate financing in Africa, intellectual property management, and reinsurance services.
These new commercial opportunities are intended to offset the decline in direct investments flowing from Mauritius to India.
