Sherry Singh Clarifies Safe City Camera Management
Former Chief Executive Officer of Mauritius Telecom, Sherry Singh, has shed light on the alleged manipulation and management of Safe City cameras, following remarks made in an affidavit by Vishal Shibchurn.
In an interview with Le-Mauricien, Singh clarified that the control of the Safe City cameras lies solely with the police, stating, “The management of the footage and surveillance is the responsibility of the police, not Mauritius Telecom.”
He elaborated that Mauritius Telecom played a role in establishing the network for the operation of these cameras, but emphasized that the ongoing monitoring of activities is conducted by the police at the Main Command & Control Centre.
“It is the police’s responsibility that is engaged, not MT,” he added, referring to the handling of the images.
Singh expressed serious concern over the allegations made in Shibchurn’s affidavit, insisting that they warrant an investigation to bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding the murder of Kaya Kistnen.
