Rama Valayden Summoned for Questioning at Central Police Headquarters
Rama Valayden, one of the leading counsels in the legal group known as the “Avengers,” is expected to appear at the Central Police Headquarters on Friday, August 2, 2024. This summons follows statements made in a sworn affidavit by Vishal Shibchurn related to the ongoing Kistnen case.
In a statement to Défi Quotidien on the evening of Thursday, August 1, 2024, Me Sanjeev Teeluckdharry, one of Valayden’s attorneys, confirmed that his client received the summons earlier that day and is required to report to the Central Criminal Investigation Department on Friday morning, August 2.
Investigators are seeking to clarify specific details provided in the affidavit during Valayden’s questioning.
Other members of the “Avengers” group are also expected to accompany him for support during the session.
Valayden was allowed to leave the Central Police Headquarters after being interrogated on the afternoon of August 2, in connection with a case concerning a breach of the Information and Communication Technologies Act (ICTA) following his comments about the purchase of a Porsche by former Minister Yogida Sawmynaden.
He arrived at the Central Headquarters shortly before 10 a.m. with a team of attorneys by his side.
After the interrogation, Valayden spoke to the press, asserting that a crackdown has been initiated against him.
He indicated that he would need to return to the Central Police Headquarters the following week for further questioning. “There are statements that have been made by two government officials…” he noted.
Furthermore, Valayden mentioned the possibility of organizing a public meeting to address issues surrounding the Kistnen affair in the near future.
