Digital Payment Solution: Absa Mauritius Launches Absa Pay

Absa Mauritius has officially launched Absa Pay, a cutting-edge Tap & Pay service aimed at enhancing the digital payment experience for customers. This innovative solution is available on Android devices, providing users with a fully digital and secure method of payment.

Jean-Noël Samy, the Head of Cards at Absa Mauritius, emphasized the need for continuous innovation to meet customer needs in a rapidly changing market.

He noted that the initiative behind Absa Pay is driven by a commitment to maintain leadership in innovation and to address the diverse needs of clients, both locally and across the African continent.

“This marks a significant turning point for our current and future customers as well as merchants. We are proud to be the first bank in Mauritius to introduce this technology and this new payment experience,” Samy stated.

Sandeep Mohapatra, the Head of Digital Transformation and Technology at Absa Mauritius, explained that customers will be able to make instant payments using their Android smartphones equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

To complete a transaction, users simply need to tap their smartphones against payment terminals.

“This innovation revolutionizes in-store payments by offering unparalleled convenience and security.

It enables faster and more efficient transactions without the need for physical cards, significantly enhancing the shopping experience,” he added.
