Vanessa Lagesse’s Murder: Bernard Maigrot Sentenced to 15 Yrs

Reported by RadioPlus, the sentence -15 years in prison for murder, was delivered by Judge Luchmyparsad Aujayeb in the Assize Court on the morning of Thursday, August 1.

Maigrot’s attorney, Me Gavin Glover, requested a brief discussion with his client immediately following the verdict.

Glover indicated that Maigrot has already expressed his intention to appeal the court’s decision.

The jury found Maigrot guilty of Lagesse’s murder by a vote of 7 to 2.

Fashion Designer, Vanessa Lagesse was discovered deceased in her bathtub at her bungalow in Grand-Baie on March 10, 2001.

Throughout the trial, Maigrot, represented by Senior Counsel Me Gavin Glover, maintained his plea of not guilty. The prosecution had initially sought a 20-year sentence for him.
