Christine Sauzier, lawyer, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Electoral Supervisory Commission (ESC) and the Broadcasting Authority (EBC) for a five-year term starting from June 2024.
The appointment was confirmed by Arvin Boolell, the leader of the Labour Party opposition, who was informed of the nomination.
Paul Bérenger, leader of MMM, congratulated the outgoing president, Yusuf Aboobaker, on his work and expressed hope that his successor will do equally well.
However, Bérenger criticized the nomination process, stating that it was made without consultation.
