No Shortage for Eggs on the Local Market ?
Despite initial concerns about a shortage of eggs on the local market, egg producers and distributors have assured government representatives that there is no scarcity of eggs.
This was revealed during a meeting held on Wednesday, July 17, between the producers, distributors, and officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection.
According to the producers, the current production levels of eggs have remained constant, and there has been no reduction in distribution.
They emphasized that prices at retailers have not increased in several months, and most retailers have not applied any price hikes.
However, the ministry reported an unusual surge in demand for eggs over the past week.
In response to this increased demand, egg producers have taken measures to boost production and frequency of deliveries to retailers.
The ministry has noted that “supplies have improved since last week,” but monitoring of egg supplies will continue.
The meeting was attended by Minister Dorine Chukowry and officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection.
Egg producers explained their current operations and distribution strategies to the authorities, providing details on their efforts to meet the growing demand for eggs.
