The leaders of the Labour-MMM-ND alliance have given the green light to accelerate the process of finalizing the candidate list. According tol’Express sources, the “big guns” have been smoothed out, and only minor adjustments are needed to complete the list.

Labour Party leader Navin Ramgoolam and MMM leader Paul Bérenger are scheduled to hold a press conference tomorrow, July 19, following a lengthy meeting on Tuesday evening, July 16, to iron out remaining details.

l’Express’ sources revealed that the list of candidates is almost complete, with only a few minor adjustments pending.

However, the alliance is also considering accommodating two candidates from Rezistans ek Alternativ (ReA), in case the party should confirm its collaboration with the alliance.

ReA had initially sought three tickets, but the alliance only offered two nominations.

The two potential ReA candidates are Kugan Parapen and another individual who has not been named.

In related news, the resignation of Jyoti Jeetun as CEO of Mont Choisy Group signaled that things are heating up ahead of the general elections. Jeetun has joined the MMM to run as a candidate in constituency 16, Vacoas-Floréal, alongside Joanna Bérenger.

Another potential candidate from Mont Choisy is Mahen Gondeea, the former Lord Mayor of Port-Louis. Jeetun’s resignation has been in the works for several months, but she had not taken the plunge until now.

She had been waiting for the approach of election season to distance herself from Mont Choisy and enter politics.
