PMSD Holds Emergency Meeting Amid Rumors

The Mauritian Social-Democratic Party (PMSD) convened an emergency meeting of its executive committee on Wednesday afternoon, July 17, at its headquarters in Port-Louis.
However, just before the meeting, party leader Xavier-Luc Duval held a briefing with senior party officials, including Secretary-General Mamad Khodabaccus, Treasurer Malini Sewocksing, and President Aurore Perraud.
Although the agenda for the morning meeting was not made public, l’Express’ sources suggested that talks between the PMSD and the Militant Socialist Movement could be one of the topics discussed.
According to some reports, a member of the PMSD may replace Sooroojdev Phokeer, who resigned as speaker on Tuesday evening, July 16.
Adrien Duval’s name has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the position, but he denied having any knowledge of the matter when contacted by l’Express on Tuesday, July 16.
The PMSD’s sudden meeting comes amid rumors of internal tensions within the party and potential changes to its leadership structure.
The party has not yet made an official announcement regarding Phokeer’s replacement or any other developments.
