Duval Jr. in Line for Speaker: PMSD Gives Nod

The Mauritius Social Democrat Party (PMSD) has expressed its support for Adrien Duval’s candidacy for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly. According to Xavier-Luc Duval, leader of the PMSD, the party has given Adrien Duval a “blank check” to resign from all party positions if he is selected as Speaker.
This announcement was made by Xavier-Luc Duval during a press conference at Astor Court, Port-Louis, following a meeting of the PMSD’s Political Bureau on Wednesday, July 17.
Adrien Duval, son of Xavier-Luc Duval, is well-positioned to succeed Sooroojdev Phokeer as the next Speaker of the National Assembly. Phokeer resigned on Tuesday, July 16, due to health reasons.
Adrien Duval, a lawyer by profession, met with Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth earlier today for a private discussion.
